Momentum is key in the tournament: Parthiv
RCB wicketkeeper-batsman hopes to keep winning streak alive

With two back-to-back victories, the Royal Challengers Bangalore are bubbling with confidence. Both their games were won while chasing targets. Their bowlers restricted the opponents to modest totals and their batsmen chased down the targets with ease. Quite understandably, the mood in the RCB camp was good.
“It is always good to start the tournament on a high note,” RCB opener Parthiv Patel said. “The two wins have given us a lot of confidence, and it is important to keep the momentum going in such a tournament.”
When asked about Chris Gayle’s injury and his availability for the next game, Parthiv said that he did not have any idea about it. He was also of the view that their batting is still strong sans Gayle. “We have done well without Gayle, which shows how strong our batting is. Once Chris comes, obviously, it will be a great boost for the team and I am sure he will be a very big threat for the other teams. Having said that, our bowlers have done really well to restrict the opponents, which has helped us chase down targets.”
Parthiv was also happy with his own form in the IPL thus far. He scored a match-winning half-century against the Mumbai Indians to help his side coast to a seven-wicket victory. He believes he has adapted well to the shortest format of the game. “I have started well in the tournament and I would like to just go out there and play myself in and get as many runs as possible for the team. I have my own strengths and have made myself a bit of a T20 cricketer. I know my limitations. I know where I can get my runs and against which bowler. I back myself every time I go out to bat,” Parthiv said.
Up next, RCB face the Kolkata Knight Riders, who enter Thursday’s game with a defeat under their belt. But the Royal Challengers were not taking their opponents lightly. “They are probably one of the best bowling sides in the tournament. They have done well and won a game and lost one. We cannot take our opposition lightly.”
